Porpoise Weekly Updates & Pre-Meet Information for Tuesday, July 7th

    Hello Porpoises!

I'm going to start with a few team updates and then move into the pre-meet information for our last home meet on Tuesday, July 7.

    General Team Updates

    Cary City Meet

The deadline to register for the Cary City Meet has passed, but we'll be creating our team banner during swimmer check-in this week with the handprints of all our swimmers. We'd love for everyone to stop by and add their handprint, whether you're attending the meet or not!

A separate email will be sent to all Cary City Meet participants on Wednesday or Thursday with everything you'll need to know for Saturday, including heat sheets, arrival/parking/warmup information, and approximate event times.

    TSA Championship Meet

The TSA Championship Meet will be held on Sunday, July 19th at Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary. Please submit this form if you're interested in attending! All swimmers are welcome to attend (6u swimmers must swim 25 yards without a kid catcher)! The deadline to sign up is TOMORROW, July 7th by midnight.

    End-of-Season Party

The end-of-season party will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, at the clubhouse/pool from 6-8pm. Information and an RSVP link will be sent soon.

    Tuesday's Home Meet vs. TCC

Here's what you need to know for this week's home meet.

    Parking

When the parking lots fill up, parking is available on the pool side of Park Village Drive only. Please do not park on the opposite side of the street so emergency vehicles can pass through easily. "No Parking" signs will be posted as reminders. If you live nearby, walking is encouraged.

    Arrival

Swimmers should arrive by 4:45 PM and check in at the RED Swimmer Check-In Tent. Warm-ups will begin promptly at 5:00 PM.

Volunteer check-in will be under the gazebo.

    Theme Night

Tuesday's theme is Stars & Stripes! Wear red, white, and blue or come dressed as something that reminds you of America! Whether it’s a baseball jersey, a national park T-shirt, a cowboy hat, a favorite landmark, or another fun Americana-inspired outfit, we’d love to see your creativity as we celebrate the holiday weekend and our final home meet.

    Meet End Time

Due to limited lighting on our pool deck, all home meets this season must conclude by 9:00 PM.

Our goal is to complete all main events before that time. Depending on participation levels and meet pace, exhibition heats (typically butterfly) may need to be eliminated. The TSA representatives will monitor timing throughout the evening and make adjustments if necessary.

We'll be moving quickly, so please make sure your swimmer knows who their kid pusher is and doesn't wander too far away.

Weather Note: If weather becomes an issue, our goal will be to get through all main events through the 15-18 Women's Breaststroke. If we make it that far, the meet is considered official and may be called if needed. If we don't reach that point, we'll pause the meet and resume on Wednesday from where we left off.

    Concessions

Concessions will be open and serving pizza, snacks, drinks, ice cream, snow cones, and more. Cash and Venmo accepted. All proceeds are reinvested back into the team.

    Parent Relays

If you're interested in swimming in a parent relay, please reach out to Coach Malie at [email protected]

    DJ Requests

Want to hear a favorite song or submit a joke? Submit your request here: https://forms.gle/3Sc7kXBKzmP3WERr8

All songs and jokes must be appropriate for all ages.

    Special Guests

    Marlins of Raleigh (MOR) Swimming

Coach Patrick from the Marlins of Raleigh (MOR) will be on deck to answer questions about MOR's year-round swimming programs. If you're interested in learning more about year-round swimming opportunities, be sure to stop by and chat with them.

    If Something Comes Up

As you've probably noticed by now, a lot of work goes into putting together a swim meet.

If your swimmer can no longer attend, please email me ([email protected]) or Coach Evan ([email protected]) as soon as possible, preferably before NOON on Tuesday, so we can adjust relays, lane assignments, and printed materials. Likewise, if you're scheduled to volunteer and can no longer work, please let me ([email protected]) know immediately so we can find a replacement.

Swimmers who have not checked in by 5:30 PM will be scratched from the meet unless we've heard from you beforehand. Please note that Coach Evan and I will both be monitoring email, but we may not have time to respond during the busy 5:00–6:00 PM hour. Don't worry if you don't receive an immediate reply.

Please plan to stay for all of your swimmer's events unless prior arrangements have been made with the coaches. All remaining meets this season should conclude by 9:00 PM.

    See you tomorrow!
