Pre-Meet Information, Park Village at Kildaire Farms, June 9th
Hi Porpoises!
This week our season begins with an away meet against Kildaire Farms! This message includes everything you need to know about our meet on Tuesday, June 9th.
First a few notes for families new to summer swim and reminders for those returning!
League Philosophy
The league's mission is to introduce swimmers to the world of competitive swimming in a fun environment with friendly competition. Dual meets should be the "Party on the Pool Deck" (minus the alcohol), with gracious hosts and respectful guests.
We expect our swimmers and parents to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times and be respectful of the host team's facilities.
If you encounter any issues during a meet, please bring them directly to the Park Village TSA Representative for the evening, Muhammed Choudhury or April Goff. If there is a concern, the TSA Representatives from each team will work together to resolve it. Parents and swimmers should never approach meet officials during the meet.
Meet Scoring
I'll remind everyone that the main objective of summer swim is fun and individual development. That said, in a dual meet we are trying to score more points than the other team. If you're interested in learning more about how meets are seeded and scored, I've tried to capture some of the more important points here: https://parkvillage.swimtopia.com/understanding-swim-meets
I'm always happy to answer questions about seeding and scoring, but we encourage swimmers to try all strokes and have fun doing it. Let the coaches and officials worry about the scoring while swimmers focus on their own growth and development.
Tuesday, June 9th Logistics
Location
Kildaire Farms Pool
162 Pebble Creek Drive
Cary, NC 27511
Parking
Kildaire Farms will keep the main parking lot open for Park Village families. If additional parking is needed, overflow parking is available between the tennis courts and Two Creeks Road.
Please do not park on the grass in the cul-de-sac across from the pool. The neighbors get very cranky.
Team Area
Park Village families should set up on the left side of the pool behind the diving boards and big slide.
Kildaire Farms will have extra tables and chairs available, but feel free to bring folding chairs if you'd like.
Arrival & Check-In
Swimmer arrival is 5:00 PM.
Swimmers should go directly to the Park Village check-in tent to check in and get their names written on their arm. Volunteer check-in will be at the same location.
The home team will warm up first. Park Village warm-ups will begin at approximately 5:20 PM.
Any swimmer or volunteer who has not checked in by 5:30 PM will be dropped from the meet unless we've heard from you beforehand. Coach Evan and I will both be monitoring email until 5:30 PM. Once a swimmer has been dropped, we will not add them back into the meet.
If Something Comes Up
If your swimmer can no longer attend, please make every effort to let us know before 10 AM on Tuesday so we can adjust lanes and relays before meet paperwork is printed. The sooner we know the better! There is a lot to print, and changes after printing require deck entries and relay adjustments that can delay the start of the meet. If you aren't sure whether your swimmer will stay through the end of the meet, please let Coach Evan know in advance so we can avoid placing them in a freestyle relay.
Likewise, if you are unable to perform your volunteer position, please email me ASAP.
Concessions
From Kildaire Farms:
"We'll be firing up the grill with plenty of pizza, hot dogs, burgers, and our famous Walking Tacos—always a crowd favorite! There's no need to cook dinner, and we're confident the kids won't complain!"
Cash and most major credit cards are accepted.
