Pre-Meet Information, Park Village @ Glenridge, July 1st

    Hi Porpoises!

This week we will travel to face the Glenridge Gators for our fourth dual season meet of the season! Now that we're in the swing of things, my emails get a little shorter! Here's what you need to know for the Glenridge meet!

    Heat Reminder:
With this heat wave, it's very important to stay hydrated for practices and meets. Please ensure your swimmers are getting enough liquids to prevent heat-related illnesses and cramps. Parents should also remember to drink plenty before, during, and after meets.

    Location & Parking:
The pool address is 101 Autumngate Drive, Cary, NC 27518. I'd allow around 25 minutes to get there from PV at that hour. This is what they have relayed to me around parking: "We have a very small parking lot at our pool, once filled additional parking can be found along the pool side of Autumngate and Copper Hill. Cones will be placed along one side of these roads to ensure space for through traffic and for the emergency vehicles that use Autumngate as secondary entrance to the nearby fire station. Also, please try not to park too close to the intersection for visibility of other cars and people walking to the pool."

    Arrival:
Swimmers should arrive between 5-5:10 and check-in with swimmer check-in upon arrival. (Swimmer check-in volunteers, please arrive by 4:50.) Our warm-up will begin at 5:30. Swimmers who do not check-in by 5:30 will be scratched from the meet unless we've heard from you before 5:30. It'll be obvious, but we'll be on the side closest to the entrance. Turn right when you enter the pool deck.

    A Note About This Meet:
The Glenridge pool only has 5 lanes, instead of the 6 that most pools have. As such, the main events will be held in lanes 2-5 only, with PV swimming in lanes 2 & 4, and Glenridge swimming in lanes 3 & 5. There will be an exhibition swimmer in lane 1 - the swimmer in lane 1 will not be swimming for points (it's hardcoded, I promise it's correct). Additionally, we are permitted two relay teams per group (instead of 3 teams that are allowed in 6-lane pools). Glenridge has lights, so we can swim past dusk. Even with 5 lanes, I still estimate that the meet should finish around 9:30.

    Concessions:
Concessions will have pizza, chips, candy, soda, gatorade, and water for sale. Cash only.

    Volunteer/Timer Meeting:
There will be a volunteer/timer meeting at 5:40 near concessions under the pool house. Timers and meet officials should plan to attend.

    If Something Comes Up:
As always, if something comes up, and your swimmer can't make it or you can't fulfil your volunteer role, please let us know as soon as possible. It's much easier to change things before we print, so it's super helpful if you can let us know before 10am on Tuesday. (But letting us know at 2pm is better than not showing up at all!)

I think that's all! If you have any questions, please let me or Coach Evan know ASAP.

    Go Porpoises!
