Brighton Forest @ Park Village, June 24th - Pre-Meet Information
Hi Porpoise Families,
We hope your Porpoises are all enjoying the season so far! This week we have our 3rd dual meet, a home meet against the Brighton Forest Silver Fins on Tuesday, June 24th!
Here's what you need to know!
Meet Theme:
It's Hawaiian Night! Feel free to have fun with the theme. We will also be celebrating Coach Malie's Sweet 16, so join us in wishing her a Happy Birthday!
Heat:
It's going to be hot, hot, hot. Please ensure everyone on deck is properly hydrated and well-nourished - start drinking your extra water now! Charge your neck fans, bring your cooling towels, portable fans, misters, etc, etc, etc. Things get much better when the sun gets behind the trees. Our hospitality volunteer will be bringing water around to the volunteers on deck. I will also set up a few chairs in the clubhouse for anyone who needs a temporary break from the heat (swimmers must be dry before entering the clubhouse).
Arrival:
As always, swimmer arrival for home meets is 4:45 p.m. If you'd like to make the line move faster, feel free to write your swimmer's age & name on their arm. Swimmer check-in is under the red tent, volunteer check-in is under the gazebo. If you know you'll be late, please let us know in advance. Any swimmer who has not checked in by 5:30 will be scratched from the meet. Any volunteer who has not checked in by 5:30 will forfeit their role for the evening. Coach Evan and I will both check emails at 5:30, so let us know before 5:30 if you'll be late. **If your swimmer arrives after 5:15, please check-in at the gazebo.**
Concessions:
Concessions will be open, serving pizza, ice cream, snacks, cold drinks, and snow cones. All profits are invested back into the team. Cash or Venmo only, no credit cards. To preorder a full pizza, submit your request here before noon on Tuesday: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJ8xSwCB0Nu3_lVyMKtq7hr0Dc3yYrhCVSq9E4FpOSJQC0Qg/viewform
DJ Requests:
Ryan will be the Announcer/DJ again for this meet. Submit your song requests, jokes, etc here: https://forms.gle/rhRmsgVgmefyHYMq7. All songs/jokes must be appropriate for the entire team.
Triangle Aquatic Center
Coach MJ and Coach Serge from the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) will be visiting our meet this week from roughly 5:15-7:00. Stop by the swimmer check-in tent to learn more about their programs and/or to sign up for an evaluation. TAC has programs that range from swimming lessons to Titans prep (3 days a week with a monthly commitment) up to elite Olympic training. Current Titans - stop by and say hi.
If Something Comes Up
As always, if something comes up and your swimmer will not attend, please reach out to Coach Evan or me as soon as possible, preferably by 10am on Tuesday, so we can adjust lane assignments and relays before we print.
Volunteer Openings:
If you don't already have a job on Tuesday but want one, I could use an extra 9/10 girls Kid Pusher and an extra relief timer to rotate in to give the main timers some breaks from the heat on Tuesday. Reach out if you're interested in either.
ISO Backup Starters:
This doesn't necessarily have to be for this Tuesday, but if you have any interest in training as a starter (home meets only), please reach out. A firm, loud voice is ideal. Any teachers or loud moms/dads out there? The starter is the person who says, "Swimmers Step Up, Take Your Marks"...
Post-Meet:
Last week, Coach Evan and some of the older swimmers went and grabbed ice cream after the meet. They may try to go out again after this meet, and if they do, all are welcome (it might be a little late for our younger swimmers). The coaches will have Ryan make an announcement when they make a decision.
See you Tuesday! Go Porpoises!
Kara
